Time for Time Train.
I prepared my PowerPoint slides and was ready to pitch the Time Train idea to the group. On the day of the presentations we all felt a bit uneasy as we were about to introduce the audience to our individual ideas, the ideas we felt close to and wanted to turn into real-life projects. At the same time we knew that since we have to collaborate to produce the final major project, we will have to choose 1 or 2 from all the presented ideas. We were not very keen on that so tried not to think about that next step too much just yet but focus on showing our proposals.
I am not a person that presents the content to the public comfortably and, therefore, I felt a bit nervous at the beginning of my pitch, however, since I am really engaged into the idea of the Time Train VR experience inspired by the pain management trough VR, I felt better and more confident with every single slide I presented and explained to the group.
My presentation was well structured and included an introduction and overview of the content. After a brief introduction, I talked about the inspiration (pain management) and the research I have done on that aspect so far. Then I moved to the train based idea, explained it and that led to answering the question “why in VR?” which was and should always be asked at the very beginning of the project development. Next I talked more about research, narrative in the experience, gameplay, mechanics and further steps.
After the presentation, I enjoyed the feedback from my colleagues and our tutor, Abel. I also answered the asked questions and happily finished my day at LCC.
During that class I also had a chance to listen to and see the other 6 proposals. All of them were very interesting and highlighted the interests of the author. Unfortunately, none of them was close to the concept I showed and wanted to create. I wasn’t worrying too much at that time though as I enjoyed the moment and was proud of the work I have done and presented.
At the end of the week, when we were already discussing the projects amongst us, we invited our course leader to our Friday class to talk to him about the collaboration that must be included in the final major project and option to work on our own ideas, the ideas we carefully generated, researched and presented. We have received extremely positive news – the answer was a yes! Yes to our own ideas. That means that we will be able to bring our own ideas to life but we still need to collaborate with other students/specialists. It was a really good end to the stressful week for each of us.
The time for the Time Train has come.
