Wardsend Cemetery guest presentation.
The Mapping Virtual Practice unit aims to prepare me and my course colleagues for future work in the industry. After a series of practice interviews, we had a guest talking to us about a potential collaboration that would count as an internship.
Howard, a member of the Friends of Wardsend Cemetery organization, spoke to us about the Wardsend Cemetery in Sheffield, its history, current restoration, and the ways how the site is or could be used by the community. Our guest shared a presentation with photographs and historical data. Howard and his associates would like to get the latest technology involved in the process of encouraging people to visit and explore the Cemetery by diverse groups of people. Virtual Reality experience is one of the options they consider and therefore, there is an opportunity for me and my VR group to work together on this project.
After that visit we were off to think about the project and brainstorm, and to research the Cemetery – online for now but with an option to visit Sheffield if we decide to go ahead with this project.
It is an unusual project and the first professional collaboration opportunity as VR practitioners for us, so it is worth having a group conversation and potentially creating something exciting!
