Thoughts on Maya project
Working on this project was a challenge for several reasons. Getting to know a completely new to me Maya software with sometimes overwhelming features and technical difficulties, lack of in person teaching and support due to pandemic, as well as extreme equipment issues made working on this assignment quite hard. Therefore, I am extremely proud of what I have created.
Losing my laptop, a week before the assignment was due was devastating (and still is as I need a computer to work on during the upcoming term). Luckily enough, I was able to source a temporary replacement machine to finish the work.
It was a bumpy learning road which, in general, I enjoyed. I have gained knew technical skills and knowledge which I will be further developing in my next creative projects. I have learnt a lot in terms of modelling and working in Maya, but also, to remember about daily backups.
I gathered photographs and videos of my project in a Sweet Holiday Destination Maya Project Padlet. My final videos are also presented there.
I am pleased with the look and the feel of my scene. Bizarre chocolate trees, exaggerated lollipops and shiny surfaces, along with the green grass patches (edible!) created an amusing, magical and welcoming holiday destination for every chocolate lover. I also included some quirky elements in the scene, such as a huge doughnut around the peak of the mountain and a little gingerbread man on top of another one, as well as a big jawbreaker rolling down the slope. I explored Maya tools and became more confident with modelling and creating 3D animations. I am satisfied with my final Sweet Holiday Destination scene. I proudly can say that in this project I managed to bring my vision to life.
