Rendering Sequence in Maya. Error

The time for rendering sequence has come. After the incident with my laptop last week, I felt anxious about starting this process.

I adjusted all needed settings and started to render my Sweet Holiday Destination scene. I had to sacrifice the quality of the image and decided not to render every frame, to reduce the rendering time and not to overload the laptop I have been using this week. I was more than positively surprised when the whole process was finished within less than two hours. My happiness didn’t last long, as it came out that the mentioned computer doesn’t have a dedicated GPU. Therefore, the rendering process was happening, but it wasn’t at the same time. There were no images, but an error message instead. It wasn’t very motivating moment, however I had to carry on.

I set up rendering again, making sure I have chosen CPU instead of GPU in System settings. I named the file where I wanted images to be stored, set PNG as the image format and chose the appropriate extension (name_#.ext). Once again, I selected every fifth frame to be rendered, instead of every single one. I also reduced the quality of the images.

I made sure I was going to render the correct camera. Next, in Render top menu I selected Render Sequence (crucial!) and once again checked if the right camera was chosen. I then clicked the button, and the process has begun. I felt nervous but also hoped for a positive result.

After over 8 hours of rendering, the task was completed. I felt a great relief. I checked if I had all the images saved in the correct folder and after confirming that, I sent them to the cloud, just in case of another technical problem.
