Chocolate water. Bifrost Fluids

As my project was inspired by the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” movie, I wanted to include a range of chocolate items inside it. I already had chocolate lollipops and trees in the scene. I considered creating a fluid chocolate, such as a chocolate stream or a pond. To learn the process, I have watched video tutorials on how to make water in Maya.

I started engaging with Bifrost Fluids as wanted to create a pouring chocolate (mentioned stream). Sadly, the laptop I am using now couldn’t process that task. Maya froze several times during this exercise, and I ended up restarting computer again and again. I am very grateful that I can use this laptop, despite its limitations. I want to be able to finish my project on this machine and have no intention of damaging it through the work overload. Therefore, I had to change my plans.

I decided to make something lighter to process – a water surface around my island, only that it would be a liquid chocolate. I created a poly plane and adjusted its size, so it was bigger than the land in the scene.  Next, I switched from Maya Classic to Bifrost Fluids and used the Boss options to create waves. I only wanted to have gentle waves moving around the island, so didn’t change the settings there. Then, I assigned a New Material, so as a result I had a brown, shiny chocolate-y surface mimicking the water. This wavy layer of chocolate complements the look of the whole island. I do realize I could have worked on its details more to achieve a better result, but with my current equipment obstructions, I am pleased with what I have produced.
